Kirby Oration & Welcome Reception

Welcome to the Conference! The Kirby Oration will be held in the Sydney Law School immediately followed by the Welcome in the magnificient nearby Nicholson Museum.

The Welcome Reception is an ideal opportunity to catch up with your interstate and international colleagues and exhibitors and to meet delegates who are attending the conference for the first time.

Conference Dinner

The main event on the social calander of the AABHL Conference is a great chance to let your hair down with old and new friends while enjoying the spectacular view of Sydney's Darling Harbour.

With views of Darling Harbour and the glittering city skyline, the National Maritime Museum will intrigue and delight. Located at the edge of one of the most beautiful harbours in the world, the museum stands out as a spectacular architectural icon with a distinctive maritime flavour.

Dinner Speaker: Fred Watson

Astronomer-in-Charge, Australian Astronomical Observatory

Fred Watson has been Astronomer-in-Charge of the Australian Astronomical Observatory since 1995, but is best known for his radio and TV broadcasts, books, and other outreach programmes. He is a musician, too, with both a science-themed CD and an award-winning symphony libretto to
his name. Fred was made a Member of the Order of Australia in 2010. He has an asteroid named after him (5691 Fredwatson), but says that if it hits the Earth, it won't be his fault.
