On behalf of the Australasian Society of Cytogeneticists and the Molecular Genetics Society of Australasia, we invite you to the 2015 Combined Interim Scientific Meeting to be held in Auckland, New Zealand.

The 2015 meeting will take place over 3 days from April 10th to 12th. The venue of this meeting will be Sky City Convention Centre, located in the heart of Auckland CBD.  It is within easy walking distance to the beautiful waterfront and all local amenities.  Come and enjoy an interesting scientific meeting with a fair slice of fun, good food and wine in this great little city.

The theme for the meeting is ‘bridging the gap’, bringing the traditional disciplines of Molecular Genetics and Cytogenetics closer together.  We look forward to you joining us on the journey from the basics through to a look to the future with perhaps a bungy or two into the unknown along the way.

Who Should Attend?

This meeting is open to all people interested in or employed within a position relevant to Human Genetics.  It is aimed at encouraging the more junior members of the profession to attend and build their networks and knowledge base.  It is pivotal that more senior scientists also attend to provide the depth of subject awareness and support.

Australasian Society of Cytogeneticists

The Australasian Society of Cytogeneticists is established to promote the highest standards of clinical Cytogenetics practice and for the advancement of science in this clinical laboratory specialty. It facilitates communication among Australasian Cytogeneticists to develop clinical Cytogenetics in both practical and ethical aspects, promote meetings and discussion of matters relevant to the practice of clinical Cytogenetics, develop and maintain professional standards of Cytogeneticists and interest with organizations with similar purposes elsewhere.

Molecular Genetics of Australasia

The MGSA was established in 2005 and formally approved by the HGSA Council in March 2006. It was formed to serve the needs of the growing community of professional molecular geneticists in Australasia. Primarily, the society exists to act as the voice of and for molecular geneticists within the HGSA and the wider community. As a special interest group of the HGSA, the MGSA has a strong focus on clinical molecular genetics, but the society is intended to be inclusive, and it’s members therefore recognize the importance of both basic and translational research in human genetics and welcome researchers and academic scientists as members. The society also recognizes the emerging dominance of molecular methodologies in the diagnosis of human malignancies and infection, and also welcomes scientists and clinicians working in these areas to participate in the MGSA’s activities.
